with Christian Hümbs
Ever since he was a child, Christian Hümbs knew that he wanted to become a pastry chef. Born in Oberhausen, he began his career with a double apprenticeship – first as a pastry chef and later as a cook.
Christian Hümbs. He’s the kind of man who likes to wear a cap, trainers and a three-day beard. Who eats a cinnamon pastry in the morning – or maybe two. Totally relaxed. And then there's the meticulous Hümbs. The one who leaves nothing to chance in the kitchen. Weighs everything, absolutely everything. A perfectionist. And one of the best pastry chefs Germany has to offer. That’s who we wanted!
His CV has more stars than the night sky: he has worked for Johann Lafer at the "Stromburg", at Hamburg's "Haerlin", at "La Mer" on the island of Sylt and as head pastry chef at Zurich's "The Dolder Grand" hotel. And at the very least since he created his flavour menus, which marry savoury and sweet, Hümbs is a household name in the culinary scene. But he is not just reserved for the exclusive circle of Michelin-star cuisine lovers, he is also popular with the masses. For years, he has been demonstrating this on television as a judge on "Das große Backen”, the German “Bake Off“-spin off. That‘s is why we paired him with top model and amateur baker Franziska Knuppe. Because who could be a better match for the professional pâtissier than the show’s winner, Franziska Knuppe? You can look forward to the joint course "The Art of Pâtisserie". It will be creative, unusual and incredibly delicious.
